This weekÂend, JerÂry SeinÂfeld gave the comÂmenceÂment speech at Duke UniÂverÂsiÂty and offered the gradÂuÂates his three keys to life: 1. bust your ass, 2. pay attenÂtion, and 3. fall in love. Then, 10 minÂutes latÂer, he added essenÂtialÂly a fourth key to life: “Do not lose your sense of humor. You can have no idea at this point in your life how much you’re going to need it to get through. Not enough of life makes sense for you to be able to surÂvive it withÂout humor.” “It is worth the sacÂriÂfice of an occaÂsionÂal disÂcomÂfort to have some laughs. Don’t lose that.” “Humor is the most powÂerÂful, most surÂvival-essenÂtial qualÂiÂty you will ever have or need to navÂiÂgate through the human expeÂriÂence.” Amen.
