It’s news and it’s instant his­tor­i­cal footage. Tonight, Pres­i­dent Oba­ma announced that Osama bin Laden, the mas­ter­mind behind the 9/11 attacks, was killed Sun­day by US forces in Pak­istan, right out­side of Islam­abad (and, in a for­ti­fied man­sion, no less). The US began search­ing for bin Laden back in 1998, fol­low­ing the bomb­ing of the US embassies in Kenya and Tan­za­nia. 13 years lat­er, the pur­suit of Al Qaeda’s leader is over…

    Does any­body feel the same uneasi­ness as I do at the sight of peo­ple laugh­ing, singing and danc­ing in the streets because of the death of OBL? Some­how I can­not ignore the uncan­ny resem­blance to pic­tures of mus­lims danc­ing in the streets because of the death of just anoth­er offend­ing unbe­liev­er of west­ern ori­gins.

    The accom­plish­ments of the Age of Enlight­en­ment seem to have been cast over­board even in west­ern civil­i­sa­tions.

    Silent con­tent­ment? Yes, def­i­nite­ly.

      This is the EXACT same thing I’ve been say­ing! I dis­cussed with few peo­ple, and this is just prov­ing how imma­ture Amer­i­cans can be because they’re SOOO about them­selves & being “patri­ot­ic”. I get it, yes final­ly. He’s dead, we’re less “fear­ful”. But our coun­try is always going to have some prob­lem with some oth­er what­ev­er. It’ll nev­er change. It’s so old. I’m tired of hear­ing it, already.
