Chester Gould first introÂduced Dick TraÂcy, the legÂendary police detecÂtive, to the AmerÂiÂcan pubÂlic in 1931, back when he launched his synÂdiÂcatÂed comÂic strip — a strip that he would conÂtinÂue writÂing until 1977. The charÂacÂter resÂonatÂed immeÂdiÂateÂly, and soon enough, Dick TraÂcy took to the airÂwaves (lisÂten to radio episodes here) and then evenÂtuÂalÂly the silÂver screen. In 1937, RepubÂlic PicÂtures released a Dick TraÂcy film series comÂprised of 15 episodes/chapters, each runÂning about 22 minÂutes on averÂage. And, thanks to Film Annex, you can now revisÂit them (for free) online at DickTracyTV.com. Above we have feaÂtured a video that gives you the entire series in one handy clip. It runs roughÂly 4 and a half hours (got an afterÂnoon to spare?), and, please note, the large file takes some time to load. You can also watch, or even downÂload, this file at The InterÂnet Archive.
