    Yes, we lost a great one. With Dave Porter, one of the great­est song writ­ers in mod­ern music. Soul and love and its best. Soul Man and Hold On, I’m Com­ing, may be two of the great­est songs ever writ­ten. Take a look at the Stax/Volt cat­a­log to see what an amaz­ing song writer, piano play­er and singer this man was. The world is not as good with­out the “Black Moses” around.

    a flat-out KILLER live veri­on, the best i’ve heard. Record­ed at Wattstax 1973 with a con­ga play­er and fab­u­lous funky gui­tar breaks. The Rev­erend was a scene steal­er even then — you could see he over­stayed his wel­come and Isaac had to tell him to get the fuck off the stage
