Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple ComÂputÂer, delivÂered this speech at StanÂford’s comÂmenceÂment cerÂeÂmoÂny in June 2005. I’ve watched it a couÂple times now, with about 6 months in between viewÂings, and each time it has struck me as worth watchÂing every so often to keep focused on what matÂters.
This is one of my all-time favourite speechÂes. It’s simÂple, perÂsonÂal, brief and insightÂful in a way that is satÂisÂfyÂing even after mulÂtiÂple reads. While I’ve read the text many times before, this is the first time I’ve seen the video footage…so thank you for sharÂing this.
I must say this is quite an inspirÂing and touchÂing speech. Thank you!
As my partÂner and I are movÂing from the uk to the usa, we are expeÂriÂencÂing mixed emoÂtions from joy, trepÂiÂdaÂtion to fear. This speech, by a man i already admire, made me weep, echoÂing words i already know inside, but need to hear, need the reinÂforceÂments and the echoÂing as we move forÂward.
Thank you so much for this great link to a speech which could be equalÂly called a life serÂmon.

[…] this weekÂend at the UniÂverÂsiÂty of MichiÂgan. While the talk may not rise to the levÂel of Steve Jobs’ masÂterÂful preÂsenÂtaÂtion at StanÂford back in 2005 (the gradÂuÂaÂtion speech that realÂly stays with me), it does have a nice perÂsonÂal touch, […]
I found the video while I was searchÂing for free coursÂes in StanÂford’s Youtube ChanÂnel. Just amazÂing and inspirÂing.

[…] Some good thoughts on why sucÂcess is ultiÂmateÂly predÂiÂcatÂed on failÂure (thoughts that call to mind Steve Jobs’ now famous talk at StanÂford), and why we need to exerÂcise the powÂer of imagÂiÂnaÂtion — and empaÂthy — in the broadÂest […]
