AnothÂer chapÂter from the Annals of UnlikeÂly PerÂforÂmances…
Last week, we highÂlightÂed Chuck Berry perÂformÂing with the Bee Gees on a 1973 episode of the MidÂnight SpeÂcial. It’s a pairÂing that doesÂn’t work on paper. But, on stage, it’s magÂic. The same goes for when Berry sang with Tom Jones on a 1974 episode of the same show. It’s magÂic once again.
If you’re a vetÂerÂan OC readÂer, you know that Jones could sing with anyÂone. On his variÂety show, This Is Tom Jones, he shared the stage with Janis Joplin, not to menÂtion CrosÂby, Stills, Nash & Young, and SteÂvie WonÂder. It worked. Just watch the expresÂsion on Janis and CrosÂby’s face.
Now 83, Tom Jones and his voice are still going strong. Below, you can watch him sing “SamÂson And Delilah” in 2021.
